Wright On!

***On the big show this morning at 11am:  Bernard Moon to talk about
Coming Soon: Nontrepreneur Nation, How parenting and education are killing American entrepreneurship and innovation   You can check out the article here.

***Remember last week we told you the Blago lied about there not being a school for Governors & we included a link to the press release from the WI Gov in '02?  Well, we posted that info to Rich Miller's Blog and the SJR Comments section Friday morning and lo and behold it pops up on Miller's little blog yesterday...

***So, now Hastert's name has been added to the list of bigwigs who wanted to see Patrick Fitzgerald canned.  Is ANYBODY shocked by this revelation?  Hastert was Speaker when the GOP went on the largest spending binge in US history and is now in Blago's back pocket trying to weasel a capitol bill out of the GA.

***This is a great ruling by SCOTUS to put a halt to rampant voter fraud.  In cities like, oh, I don't know, CHICAGO, 'voters' have long been able to vote w/out an ID and vote numerous times as multiple people.  The Daley machine can deny this happens, but everyone knows that it happens.  Will this ruling change anything in Chicago or Illinois?  Not, at least, until we get some new people in leadership positions.

Of course, The Obama supporter's don't like the ruling:

"The effect of this law is to create a barrier for those voters not experienced with voting -- those voters [Barack] Obama is mobilizing are those least likely to have photo ID," said Columbia University law Professor Nathaniel Persily.

***Mary Mitchell and the many other hand-wringing pro-Obama media types are up in arms this morning about Rev. Wright.  IF he had only done what he was supposed to do and that was disappear until after the General Election, he would be welcomed back into the light of the academic, media elite.  Rather, Wright decided to stand up for what he believes in; for what he has preached for dozens of years; and grab some of that national spotlight that is reserved for The Obama.

It makes one wonder, after Wright media tour from the past 3 or 4 days, if The Obama knew what he was doing when he dis-invited his pastor from speaking at his announcement last Feb.  The Obama's campaign has said that some of Wright's previous statements were bound to be misconstrued and twisted.  What The Obama also knew, as evidenced by his pastor's recent statements, is that Wright cannot be controlled and The Obama feared what Wright might say during the announcement or in future speeches.

***We talked yesterday about Jerry Springer speaking at the Northwestern School of Law commencement and the uproar this is creating.  Richard Roeper hates the idea, as well and adds that a commencement speaker should say things like playwright Tony Kushner from a Columbia commencement some years ago:

"The world is melting, the world is darkening, there is injustice everywhere . . . there is desperate human need, poverty and untreated illness and exploitation everywhere . . . there is joylessness and hatred of the body and slavery masked as freedom and community disintegrating ... everywhere sexism, everywhere homophobia . . . everywhere the world is in need of repair. Fix it, solve these things. . . . The world is calling, heal the world . . . seek the truth; when you find it, speak the truth; interrogate mercilessly the truth you've found, and act, act, act.

"The world is hungry for you, the world has waited for you, the world has a place for you. Take it. Mazel tov. Change the world."

***Unless you're staying a hotel that is too cheap to provide the local paper or the NYT and you get stuck with a USA Today, who reads the thing?  They predict that the Dem 'dream' ticket is Clinton and Obama on the same ticket.  They're right about one thing, it is a DREAM ticket for McCain & the GOP!!!

***The Washington Post, of all papers, advocates this morning for Congress to support the DC Mayor's attempt at providing VOUCHERS for low-income public school students.  READ THAT AGAIN.  Don't believe me, here's a quote:

There are 1,900 children enrolled -- quite happily -- in the program. What's at stake is not a political point of honor but the opportunity for children to go to schools that work for them. Second, it's a program that is supported by District leaders and embraced by their constituents. A measure of its popularity is how demand for the scholarships outstrips capacity.

All of those things are what voucher supporters for low-income families have been arguing for years and, yet, there are those liberal politicians who stand in the way of children receiving a great education:

A Republican-controlled Congress barely approved the program in 2004, and the Democrats who now rule the House are sworn enemies of vouchers. It doesn't help that District Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D) has been a fierce opponent.
