***The Governor's Office, after saying it didn't have any money for Soil & Water Conservation or for Stateville but finding the $$$ last week when friendly legislators gave Hot Rod a pass on recall, now says about the budget, without a hint of irony:
"It's not an extreme problem unless it remains unaddressed," said Sheila Nix, Blagojevich's deputy governor. "This is a problem that can be fixed, but we need to get beyond the political distractions to solve it."

***There are a number of Dem leaders, Durbin amongst them, who keep trying to tell us that The Obama's response to his pastor's craziness in the form of a 'speech for the ages' calling on a dialogue on race gets bigger by the day. It is as if The Obama made a speech that his handlers previewed as a momentous speech and, therefore, it was a momentous speech. The question keeps popping up, though, what, if anything, did it accomplish? The answer, nothing. Great column in the LA Times about this...
