***Alice Armstrong is at it again. Blasting anything that threatens the all powerful teachers' union and perhaps helping students and parents get a better education. This time in the barrel - charter schools. Alice believes that some are good and some are bad and, therefore, we shouldn't expand charters because that would lead to more privatization. Of course, charter schools are public schools open to everyone and have lengthy waiting lists because PARENTS see that they work and are great places for kids.
***The NYT has an article about what locals & states are doing to combat illegal immigration. Good for them! Enough waiting for Congress to do something - they won't!
***Another GREAT reason NOT to vote for The Obama: The French love him! From Roger Cohen's column in today's NYT:
But right now, in French eyes, there’s a single good American: the presumptive Democratic Party nominee, Barack Obama. His book, “The Audacity of Hope,” is a best seller. His face is everywhere, sometimes in socialist realist images evoking Che Guevara.
***Good point from Finke yesterday in the PJStar:
Back in 2004, when (surprise) the state was going through financial problems, Blagojevich complained that many of those problems were caused by "the biggest borrowing binge in Illinois state history." Specifically, the Illinois FIRST capital program pushed through by former Gov. George Ryan.
For the record, that biggest borrowing binge in Illinois history cost $12 billion. Blagojevich's capital plan is $34 billion.
***Rats leaving the ship. It is going down and they know to get while the getting's good...Bye Bye Ms. Nix...
