Fool Me Once...

***So, if you work for the City of Springfield in a 'critical' job, tell your boss that you need $50,000 extra on top of your above average salary and he or she will go to the wall for you.  It will also help if you have a Republican member of the City Council who is clearly be-dazzled by Renfrow's pearly whites.

Alderman Cimarossa didn't even know what she voted for last night:

Ward 7 Ald. Debbie Cimarossa, the committee chairwoman, said she believed her amendment to the employment-contract ordinance would require the council to approve any contracts negotiated by the mayor. However, Ward 8 Ald. Kris Theilen said the mayor would have the final say, and a tape of the meeting indicates he was right.

“Maybe it is just the mayor’s approval,” Cimarossa acknowledged after first saying the council would have to approve such contracts, which is already how the city does business.

Then she, Mahoney and Simpson went on to pass the $50,000 measure to the full council.  Ald. Cimarossa said that this was absolutely necessary because there was an offer on the table.  Renfrow also said that there was an offer on the table and we have to couter it as quickly as possible.

Wait a minute, didn't Renfrow say a couple of weeks ago that there wasn't an offer?  That there weren't any headhunters?  When does this guy tell the truth anymore?

These employees, and this isn't only about Fitzgerald we are told, are going to see upwards of $200,000 in salary increases with little or no information provided to the Council or the public.

YOU must call your alderman and demand that they not vote to for these raises or give Renfrow or Davlin this kind of power.  Remember, these are the same guys who were in charge when the power plant blew up and nobody has been held accountable.  These are the same guys who raised your taxes and electric rates and water rates time and time and time again.

Do something now!

Doesn't Cimarossa just agree to everything the Mayor says? Do you really think she has her own brain?

What is the rest of that phrase or saying, "Fool me once..."? Isn't like "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame of me."? ...or something like that.
