789-2151

***Wow.  The SJR Editorial Page jumped on the 'call your alderman' bandwagon.  Finally.  So, go ahed and call them.  Tell them this pay raise thing is a bad idea and you don't want them to vote for it.  Don't know how to get in touch with your alderman, call 789-2151.

***Mark Brown tries to explain the latest lunacy coming from Crazy Rod:

As is so often the case with the governor, the result is that we are left in the position of questioning his sincerity.

If he were sincere about riding to Chicago's rescue, wouldn't he have checked first with Daley to learn what type of assistance might be useful? Wouldn't he also have met first with the Illinois State Police to figure out what they realistically could offer to do?

That's what a reasonable person would do. Instead, the mayor's office was still waiting to hear the governor explain himself late Wednesday, while the governor was meeting with his State Police personnel to figure out how he was going to back up his rhetoric.

What?  How could this great plan in Seattle have gone so wrong?  Public bathrooms that 'cleaned' themselves after each use with a cost of $1 MILLION tax dollars EACH.  Who would've seen these thing breaking down, becoming havens for drug abusers and prostitutes?

***When this idea was launched-the drive to reduce the size of the County Board-the supporters claimed that it would save up to $150,000/year.  Now, of course it is about creating a 'more responsive' board.  The interesting thing to note is the Alderman Cahnman believes that this will save $$$ for county taxpayers, but he still isn't sure if voting against $180,000/year in pay raises is a bad thing for CWLP?  Make up your mind, Alderman!
