Rumors, Rumors, Rumors
***Right off the top...SOX WIN!!! Tonight's another deal. But last night, it was great to be a Sox fan...The Kass column.
***Remember this story about the prostitution ring centered in Springfield??? Well, the rumors started flying fast and furious this morning that there is a list of names that is being shopped for a deal and the list includes prominent Springfield names including politicians...
***More Rezko rumors. Again, impeach, indict, convict. Repeat as often as necessary.
***It is about time for Spfld to ask for its money from The Obama. The question, though, is it such a difficult question that The Obama's campaign can't answer whether they will pay Spfld's taxpayers back more than $50,000 in expenses: Justin DeJong, a spokesman for the Obama campaign, declined to comment about when asked if the campaign will pay the city’s bill.
***Dennis Byrne writes today about a subject that is on our list for today's show. The President, the Congressional Leadership, the Tres Sec, the Fed Chair, the Media Greek Chorus - none of them did an adequate job of convincing the American public that the rescue plan was the right thing to do. They didn't strike the right chord of contrition. They didn't convince us that they would rise above partisan politics. And, Pelosi proved that point yesterday in spades!!! They thought, as does the Coastal Media, that the American public would fall in line.
Again, this is the disconnect between the DC/NY elites inclusive of the Media and the average voter. The DC/NY Elite believe that they can turn on their Coastal Media mouthpieces and everyone will fall in line. They have yet to fully understand the dissembling of the media market. People get their news and opinion from hundreds and thousands of sources each day, if email chatter is included.
Our political leaders need to figure out a new way of talking with us; of convincing us of their integrity; of treating us like adults.
Byrne puts it this way: That an upstart public would flood Congress and the administration with unscripted, immediate and overwhelmingly negative reaction was, itself, considered a disaster of unprecedented proportions. You could read in the faces of the Wall Street types on CNBC and elsewhere their astonishment that anyone would dare defy their wisdom. Jim Cramer, the popular stock guru, expressed it best when he stated that the folks who opposed the deal are "not knowledgeable or sophisticated." As if everyone who disagreed with him is stupid.
