Same as it ever was...

***Crazy Rod and his naked mole rat minions never cease to amaze at how many FOIA loopholes they can find.  Clearly they are head and shoulders above the Davlin administration when it comes to avoiding full disclosure.

In this episode of refusing to provide a media outlet with PUBLIC INFORMATION, Crazy Rod's Dept. of Healthcare and Family Services denied a FOIA request by the AP for county by county numbers of how many people have signed up for his FAILED attempt at universal healthcare.  This is wrong.  Judges and prosecutors need to step in.

Speaking of prosecutors, we realize that Attorney General Lisa Madigan won't get involved with the 7,000 investigations into Crazy Rod because those are in the Feds hands.  HOWSOMEVER, isn't she the one who touts herself as the guardian of public information?  Afterall, she has gone after a number of smaller units of government to force disclosure.  She has a pretty website devoted to the subject.

Why isn't Lisa demanding disclosure?  Where is the investigation?  Oh, that's right.  She's getting ready to be Guv in 2010.  Too busy campaigning already...

***Overhauling the Bel-Air is a great idea.  Do we need to use City money to do it?  Where are we going to get the city money to do it?  The SJR hits the nail on the head when they ask: The question, as is always the case with big ideas, is whether Mayor Tim Davlin’s administration can follow through on this splashy announcement and obtain the state and federal funding needed to make it happen.

The paper points to Davlin's city wide internet scheme that didn't go anywhere, as an example of big talk from the Mayor.  How about the East Side community center he announced w/Tricky Dicky Durbin?  How about the great idea to turn downtown into another Historic Williamsburg [even tho that was a STUPID idea]?

***No gay/lesbian high school in Chicago, yet.  The issue wasn't killed.  It was delayed probably until the controversy quiets and then they will approve it when nobody is looking.

***Federal subpoena for another of Crazy Rod's inner circle.  The noose tightens.

***Great editorial column in the Boston Globe, of all places.

***And, from WSJ on Palin.

***"Project for Excellence in Journalism"  Really.  That is a real group.  Clearly they have a LOT OF WORK to do...Their most recent obvious revelation is that <GASP> media coverage of McCain is 3 times more likely to be negative than coverage of The Obama.  Stop the presses.
