It's Tuesday...Thank a Vet

Although the weather is a bit crummy today, try to make an effort to go to the Veterans Day Parade.  It steps off at 10:15 near the State Capitol.  Attendance at this event is usually pretty sparse but the men and women who march in it sacrificed for your freedom in both peace and wartime.  If you can't make it, certainly thank a vet for his or her service.  Speaking of Veterans Day, did you know..........

    * It was first proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson as Armistice Day to mark the end of World War I.
    * It is held on "11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month"...the moment the Armistice was signed
    * Originally, the day was meant to mark the end of WWI, a Kansas shoe salesman lobbied Congress tho have the day honor all veterans of the armed services...whether they served in war or peacetime.  That bill was signed by President Eisenhower in 1954.
