Impeachment Thursday

***With all of the crappy news from IL, this is a good story.  Hopefully LaHood will be able to steer a bunch of $$$ back to Illinois for infrastructure, etc.  But, until the GA gets rid of Crazy Rod, the Feds shouldn't give us one thin dime!

***Genson is doing what he is paid to do.  HOWEVER, he should not be paid by the Taxpayers of Illinois.  IF Crazy Rod wants to go and hire the highest paid criminal defense attorney in the state, that is his perogative.  It is not his right to have his defense paid for by the citizens of Illinois.  Genson's argument that the AG is supposed to defend the Governor is correct for official functions.  It doesn't appear though that these allegations fit that definition.  AND, IF Genson wants to be paid with public monies, he needs to remember that then he becomes a public servant and will have to answer questions that he wasn't willing to do yesterday.

***THIS could be why Genson wants YOU to pick up his legal tab:  The Sun-Times is reporting that the Feds are going to try and freeze Blago's campaign fund.  Bye, bye money...

***This from SneedSneed hears Gov. Blagojevich displayed bizarre/unusual behavior during his arrest by the feds last week.

•  •  To wit: The governor, a relentless runner, reportedly surprised feds when, upon entering his home, he began jogging in place -- and then lying down in the fetal position. He reportedly repeated the frenetic exercise several times.

Ron Ellis, the Inquiry Committee attorney, should just read this to the Committee this morning and then Chairwoman Currie should immediately move the inquirey closed and file articles of impeachment with the full House to report tomorrow morning at 9am to vote.

***Steve Chapman on Caroline Kennedy.  The one issue to take with Chapman is that he compares Ms. Kennedy with the Bush and Clinton 'brands' in politics.  At least those families stood for election; they faced the voters.  Too often, especially in Illinois politics, political families get their kids/spouses into seats w/out a care about the voter.  Kennedy is doing the same thing here - get in without having to face voters and then stand as an incumbent which is nearly a lock on a lifetime job.
