REALLY?!?.....THIS is a plan for plugging a budget hole in the city?!?

From the 970 WMAY NewsCenter............"Still struggling to come up with a spending plan for the next fiscal year,
Springfield aldermen will consider a measure to slap a tax on liquor sales
in the city.  Alderman Sam Cahnman proposed the ordinance to charge
5-percent on the retails sales of booze.  The council's finance committee
will take up the measure Tuesday night.  Springfield faces a 12-million
dollar deficit when the new budget year begins March 1st."

Still on the table........a hike in the telcom tax (including cell
phones), a re-working of the distribution of profits from CWLP ( this in
the wake of Chatham and New Berlin's announcement to form their own water
district), and still no signs of meaningful cuts to the budget (does the
city really need 6 media spokespeoples?)
