Unicorns & Rainbows
***Let's take a look at another 'critical' look at The Obama's first 6 weeks in office from Eugene Robinson from WaPo:
In halting some of the largesse that the Reagan, Bush and Bush administrations gave to the wealthiest Americans, Obama reintroduces the principle of progressive taxation -- the idea that the rich, who can afford it, should pay a greater percentage of their income in taxes so that the government can do more to improve the lives of those who are not rich.
Really? George W. Bush actually ovehauled everyone's tax code by dropping the rates for EVERYONE, not just those deemed 'rich' by The Obama. Bush dropped rates for the poor, the working class, the middle class and the rich. Now The Obama is going to tell you when you are rich and then take more money from you.
It is also ridiculous that Robinson is OK with the idea that govt knows better how to and on what to spend YOUR money under the laughable guise that the govt can 'improve' the lives of those who are not rich.
By including education among his top three priorities, Obama expands on a commitment to make improving the schools a federal matter, not just a local issue.
Wait, a minute, I thought the federal intrusion into local schools was a bad thing when it was No Child Left Behind even though that was 'negotiated' with Teddy Kennedy. Now, The Obama's plan to further intrude into the relationship between child, parent and teacher is seen as a great thing. Education is a local issue and should stay that way.
There's a reason why Obama's approval ratings remain so high.
Uh, The Obama's approval ratings have slipped 12-15 points since his high of 70ish. His ratings are lower than Carter's at the same time-fram.
